I mean, how else would you pilfer a fish? It’s not like you can bring your own tank. And maybe Cruz should have checked for video cameras before going all Ocean’s 11 on the aquatic life at this pet store.
A ***** man is accused of stealing exotic fish from a pet store by stuffing them down his pants.
Cruz Orlando Garcia Jr., of Largo, entered Pet Safari in ***** on Jan. 9 with his alleged accomplice, Crystal Dixon. Dixon distracted the store clerk while Garcia Jr. stole Electric Blue Acaras and Blue Ram Cichlids, police told WFLA.
The fish cost between $18 and $20 each, ***** reported.
“The boyfriend came to this fish tank over here, pointed at a fish and said, ‘Oh, that’s a really cool fish’ and then ran out the door,” Kayla Kraut, the store employee working during the robbery, told *****. “I immediately went to where I saw them last, and I noticed there were droplets of water coming from the tank. I knew there was missing fish.”
Kraut saw the tag number on the car and turned it over to detectives. Garcia Jr. was arrested on Jan. 19 and authorities are still looking for Dixon, ***** reported
Garcia Jr. was charged with petty theft, but has since been released from jail. The fish were never recovered, according to *****.
THE FISH ONLY COST $18-$20. Also the “Oh that’s a really cool fish” is the equivalent to hitting your sibling in the presence of your parents then shrugging your shoulders when they ask why they are crying.
